The research fellow will serve as a Co-Investigator on a Biomedical Lab Research and Development (BLR&D) funded research program focused on investigating spinal targets for persistent bladder pain. Interstitial cystitis/Bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a painful condition of unknown etiology.
- Investigate novel MIF-modulated spinal protein targets associated with persistent BHA and determine spinal protein changes mediated by specific receptors in persistent BHA.
- Work involves performing a variety of research methods to determine pain levels in awake animals, animal surgery in anesthetized animals, specimen collection and processing for further analysis and testing
- The job is supporting by a 4-year VA Merit grant application (to the Principal Investigator).
- Excellent networking opportunity with affiliation to the University of Kentucky. Expected to write results and publish in scientific journals and present findings at scientific meetings
