Position Title: Orthopedic Joint Surgeon

Job Overview: Covenant HealthCare is seeking a BC/BE orthopaedic joint surgeon to work full time alongside a 10 physician team in Saginaw, MI. As an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a Joint Fellowship at Covenant Healthcare, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialized orthopedic care focused on joint reconstruction and replacement. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough clinical assessments, review patient medical histories, and interpret diagnostic imaging studies to accurately diagnose orthopedic joint disorders, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic injuries, and other degenerative conditions.

  2. Treatment Planning: Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs, preferences, and clinical presentation. Incorporate evidence-based practices and the latest advancements in orthopedic joint care to optimize treatment outcomes and enhance patient satisfaction.

  3. Surgical Expertise: Perform a wide range of orthopedic joint surgeries, including total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, shoulder arthroplasty, revision joint surgery, and arthroscopic procedures. Utilize advanced surgical techniques, prosthetic devices, and intraoperative navigation systems to achieve optimal functional outcomes and patient satisfaction.

  4. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their orthopedic conditions, treatment options, surgical procedures, and postoperative care requirements. Provide clear and concise explanations, address any concerns or questions, and empower patients to actively participate in their treatment decision-making process.

  5. Collaborative Care: Work collaboratively with orthopedic colleagues, nursing staff, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated care across the continuum. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient care delivery and outcomes.

  6. Continuing Education and Research: Stay abreast of the latest developments in orthopedic surgery through ongoing professional development, participation in conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education activities. Engage in clinical research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activities to contribute to the advancement of orthopedic knowledge and practice.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Fellowship training in Joint Reconstruction or Adult Reconstruction Surgery from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Active medical license and eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and treating orthopedic joint disorders, including surgical management of complex cases
  • Excellent surgical skills and technical proficiency in joint reconstruction procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and professional integrity

Work Environment: The Orthopedic Joint Surgeon will primarily work in hospital settings, including outpatient clinics, surgical suites, and inpatient units dedicated to orthopedic care. This position may involve participation in on-call rotations to provide timely orthopedic surgical services and consultations as part of the hospital's comprehensive orthopedic program.
