This amazing opportunity as Clinical Director for GAP Provider reports to the Chief of Primary Care & Community Clinics and serves as the principal advisor in all professional, clinical, administrative, and quality performance matters.

The duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

  • 70-80% GAP Clinical Coverage & 30-20% Administrative duties.
  • Supervises physician, mid-level practitioners and other health care providers as assigned.
  • Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the activities of the GAP Providers, including requirements for staff, budget, equipment, and supplies.
  • Conducts the programs through assistance of subordinates but is ultimately responsible for the success and the fulfillment of the overall vision and mission of the program.
  • Conducts staff meetings and coordinating in-services/trainings for clinical employees.
  • Ensures performance measures and productivity standards are met for Primary Care.
  • Collaborates with Clinic Directors, Nurse Managers, MSA Supervisor/Office Managers, and Administrative Officer(s) to ensure necessary actions are taken to meet performance measures and productivity standards.
  • Develops, reviews, and implements clinic policies and procedures as needed with final approval from the Chief of PCCCS. Trains clinic and ancillary staff on the new policies and procedures as effective and efficiently as possible.
  • Reviews Veteran complaints, investigate, delegate, and summarize cohesive response along with the Clinic and Nurse Managers.
  • Provides comprehensive and quality clinical care as GAP coverage to a panel of adult patients.
  • Provides direct patient care to optimize patient health including ordering diagnostic testing, prescribing medication including contraceptive medication, consulting with specialty services, and utilizing computerized/electronic medical records.
  • Provides patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence.

Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Internal or Family Medicine

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Approved
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
