REPORTS TO: System Senior Physician Executive - Medical Specialties

EFFECTIVE DATE: November 1, 2023

GENERAL SUMMARY:

A System Specialty Director-Behavioral Health reports directly to the System Senior Physician Executive - Medical Specialties. The incumbent has relationships with the Director - Clinics and Service Line Administrators for their respective area(s).

This role will have the primary responsibility of helping develop and operationalize the Aspirus Medical Group as a whole and for their Specialty. The physician leader will assist in the design and implementation of specialty specific care delivery models. This physician leader will leverage the core values of Aspirus in order to achieve success. The incumbent will develop credible relationships of trust with the independent and employed physicians as well as advance practice professionals (APCs). In addition, this position will have overall leadership responsibility for the physicians and APCs within the area of accountability.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a confident, decisive, collaborative, visionary leader that demonstrates the ability to build a partnership between physicians and administration.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and communicates quality measures including process outcome measures.
  • Models and implements the organization's commitment to outstanding patient experience.
  • Partners with Executive leadership to manage the implementation of strategies within the medical group.
  • Provides guidance and appropriately escalates issues related to medical group leadership, risk management and/or human resources as appropriate.
  • Actively participates and `may lead/co-lead operational committees.

PATIENT CARE:

  • The physician will be expected to maintain a clinical practices within an Aspirus Facility. Based on the area of specialty and accountabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education

  • MD, DO, or DPM Required
  • Completion of a Master's degree in related field or relevant, applicable experience.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years' experience in the practice of their specialty (post-residency/fellowship), direct patient care and demonstrated skills and experience in clinical and administrative leadership through activities including, but not limited to, advanced healthcare administration course work, service as a medical staff officer, or program medical director.
  • Experience working in physician-led, integrated healthcare delivery organization a plus.
  • Experience and proven results in technology utilization to optimize patient care and provider efficiency.
  • Experience as successful influencer who can interact effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders such as other physicians, healthcare administration, and staff.

Licensure/Certification

  • Must be licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin or State of Michigan, based on clinical location.
  • Board certified in field of specialty required.
  • Meets all other bylaws and policy requirements pertaining to physicians.
